Being creative when things are out of control

It's 2020 and we're in lockdown #1.

How do I operate my business during a state of emergency?

This is the question on the minds of many businesses and entrepreneurs. With many people working from home, service based businesses having to lay off workers or at least temporarily suspend business, and jobs and events being cancelled left, right and centre, many are left with the stress of how to pay their bills.

As a small business owner I've had several jobs cancelled and people afraid to book into an uncertain future. I've seen many other small businesses shutter their brick and mortar stores for a couple of weeks and others take their services online, not ideal but better than nothing. So I go back to the question how does one operate their business?

I believe the answers lie within the community and our networks. It's important to support those that are out there providing services in safe and controlled ways. Support your favourite restaurant by doing takeout or delivery. Buy your gifts or necessities online from your neighbours and businesses within your community. The thing to remember is that we're all in this together.

I've heard of small businesses getting together to provide new and unique services during this crazy time. A bakery, farm and delivery company partnered to deliver delicious foods to areas on given days. You just call, place your order and they bring it to you. No line ups, no risk of running into someone ill. These ventures are popping up everywhere it's up to everyone to support these people and places so that when this is over you still have those places to go.

It's times like these that you need to look at your network and see how you can support them.

Over here we are still servicing our customers from the comfort of our home office, after all branding photography sessions take time to plan and execute. We are available via phone or video chat. We've also had to change our focus and delve into new areas of business such as stock photography.

It's important that business owners and entrepreneurs keep moving forward with their businesses whether it moves to a planning phase, a creation phase, or launching a new venture. You can even use this opportunity to take some time off and recharge. Some of the best ideas come from slowing down.

Like most things, this will pass and we'll move forward even though for many we're a little unsure how.

In the meantime if you need anything from us, we are here to help you just need to reach out.
